2019 Advent Calendar – December 13: Erg Iguidi, Algeria

For December 13th, let’s go back to the Sahara desert! The satellite image shows part of the Erg Iguidi in southwestern Algeria extending into Mauritania.

The Erg Iguidi is a sandy desert with a clear pattern of narrow linear dunes shaped by the wind.

« Yellow sand dunes resting like a fishnet on the bedrock », says Pierre, CTO of PlanetObserver. He’s been greatly inspired by that image which is for him the most beautiful of the whole selection for our Advent calendar.
